Urban Sociology

Tony Campolo's "Urban Sociology" is designed to introduce students to the sociology of the city. In addition to studying the historical development of cities, the course analyzes how cities are structured, the character of urban life, and special problems that emerge in the cities of the United States.

Considerations for various theologies of the city are reviewed and carefully analyzed to discover how cities can be impacted through faith based on economic development programs. The course explores the Biblical imperative to change cities so that they embody the values of what the scriptures call the Kingdom of God.
